Phone Tapping Case: Prabhakar Rao To Reset iCloud Password: Supreme Court Order

Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 14 (Maxim News) A key development has taken place in the Supreme Court regarding the sensational phone tapping case in Telangana. The Supreme Court has ordered the reset of the iCloud password of former intelligence chief Prabhakar Rao in the presence of forensic experts. The court has also extended interim protection from arrest to Prabhakar Rao and adjourned the next hearing to November 18.

The Supreme Court heard the phone tapping case today (Tuesday). A bench of Justice B.V. Nagaratnam and Justice R. Mahadevan heard the petition. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and senior advocate Siddhartha Luthra heard the arguments on behalf of the Telangana government.

They told the court that former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao is not cooperating with the investigation of the case. He should be handed over for custodial interrogation. They said that the truth will come out only through custodial interrogation.

They brought to the court’s attention that data was forged in digital devices. They did not give iPhone and iCloud passwords. The lawyers informed that the data on the hard disks was destroyed after the change of government. They said that 50 new hard disks were installed there.

They argued in the Supreme Court that the phones of politicians, journalists, judges, builders and businessmen were tapped. They said that all these activities were carried out in the name of Naxalites. Lawyers on behalf of the Telangana government argued that all the data was deleted and the devices were given to them.

Also.. Advocate Seshadri Naidu presented arguments on behalf of former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao. He said that Prabhakar Rao was ready to reset the device.. He said that he was summoned 11 times and interrogated for 80 hours. He said that Prabhakar did not delete the data and the department deleted it. The lawyer presented arguments saying that Prabhakar was not a part of the department.. The Chief Minister had openly threatened to expose him.

After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the Supreme Court… ordered Prabhakar Rao to reset his iCloud password in the presence of forensic experts… and extended interim protection from arrest to Prabhakar Rao. The Supreme Court adjourned the further hearing of the case to November 18 at 2 pm. (Maxim News)
