The SIT was constituted by the Telangana government with nine senior police officers to ensure an independent and time bound investigation.

According to sources, the SIT is preparing to issue notices to senior political leaders for the first time in the Phone Tapping Case.

Investigators are relying on the statement of main accused and former Special Intelligence Bureau chief Prabhakar Rao and fresh digital evidence provided by the Forensic Science Laboratory.

The SIT is focusing on who ordered the phone tapping and for whose benefit it was carried out.

Officials indicated that the inquiry has reached a stage where the role of political leadership is under scrutiny.

As a result, the SIT is considering issuing notices to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and former minister Harish Rao for questioning.

This move, if executed, would mark a significant turning point in the Phone Tapping Case.

During questioning, Prabhakar Rao reportedly named former DGP Mahender Reddy and former Intelligence chief Anil Kumar repeatedly.

SIT chief VC Sajjanar has taken note of these disclosures. Authorities have already recorded Mahender Reddy’s statement in connection with the Phone Tapping Case.

Therefore, officials believe further questioning of senior decision makers is unavoidable.

Meanwhile, members of the Phone Tapping Review Committee have also faced SIT questioning. Former chief secretaries Somesh Kumar and Santhi Kumari, along with senior officials Tirupati and Seshadri, appeared before investigators earlier.

They informed the SIT that Prabhakar Rao had submitted thousands of phone numbers for surveillance approval.

However, the committee members stated that they could not independently verify those numbers. They explained that they trusted the SIB assessment, believing the surveillance targeted Maoists, terrorists, and anti national elements.

This explanation has added another layer of complexity to the Case. In a parallel development, the FSL recovered conversations between a prominent news channel managing director Sravan Rao and former DSP Praneeth Rao.

Investigators are now examining this data closely. Based on this evidence, political circles believe notices to KCR and Harish Rao are imminent.

With the Assembly session soon, officials expect rapid developments in the Case.

Observers say the investigation could reshape the political narrative in Telangana in the coming weeks.
