- PM KUSUM scheme solar plant connected to grid in Telangana
- Rajanna Sircilla 2MW solar project at Nagaram
Hyderabad: The first two megawatt solar power plant under the PM KUSUM scheme in Telangana has been completed and connected to the power grid. Officials achieved this milestone at Nagaram in Konaraopet mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district. The project marks a key step in promoting solar energy generation through farmers under the central scheme.
On Saturday evening, officials from NPDCL and REDCO connected the 2MW solar project to the grid at the nearby 33/11 KV Dharmaram substation. They also conducted technical tests to ensure smooth integration with the power system. The successful grid connection confirms that the solar plant is ready to supply power as planned under the PM KUSUM scheme.
Meanwhile, officials highlighted the importance of the project for local farmers. Speaking on the occasion, Karimnagar Superintending Engineer Ramesh Babu said that both the central and state governments are offering opportunities to farmers through the PM KUSUM scheme. He said the scheme allows farmers to generate solar power in their own fields. Therefore, he urged farmers to make use of these opportunities to improve their income and contribute to clean energy generation.
The solar project at Nagaram is the first of its kind under the PM KUSUM scheme in Telangana. Officials said it sets an example for similar projects in other districts. Also, the completion of the plant shows coordination between power distribution companies and renewable energy agencies. NPDCL and REDCO played a key role in completing the grid connection and technical checks.
Later, officials noted that such projects support renewable energy goals while helping farmers become energy producers. They said the PM KUSUM scheme encourages decentralised power generation. It also reduces dependence on conventional power sources. The successful commissioning of the 2MW plant is expected to motivate more farmers to come forward.
The project at Rajanna Sircilla reflects the growing focus on solar energy in rural areas. Officials said more such plants could follow under the PM KUSUM scheme. They added that farmers should actively participate to benefit from the support provided by the government.
