PM Modi Inaugurates Kartavya Bhavan: All Officers Of Key Ministries Are In One Place
Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 6 (Maxim News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the first of the ‘Common Central Secretariat Buildings’, ‘kartavya bhavan 3‘, which will house all the offices of key central government ministries.
All the offices of central government ministries in Delhi will now function from here. The Centre has decided to construct 10 such Common Central Secretariat Buildings.
The Centre is planning to bring the offices of government ministries located in different places in Delhi under one roof to increase efficiency and coordination. As part of this, the prime Minister inaugurated the first kartavya Bhavan-3.
The offices of the Home Ministry, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, petroleum and natural Gas, and the principal Scientific Advisor will function from here. These offices located in North and South Blocks will be shifted to Kartavya Bhavan. Two blocks in Raisin Hill will be converted into museums reflecting India’s ancient and modern history.

Currently, the offices of several central ministries are functioning in the old Shastri Bhavan, Krishi Bhavan, udyog Bhavan and Nirman Bhavan. All these were built between 1950-1970. The government considers all these to be structurally outdated.
As an alternative, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has prepared plans to construct ten buildings under the Common Central Secretariat (CCS) as part of the Central Vista Redevelopment Project.
Out of these, 2-3 buildings are under construction. They are likely to be completed next month. The construction of 10 CCS buildings is to be completed by April next year. (Maxim News)
