Launching the campaign virtually, Modi said India’s youth must remain physically and mentally healthy to realise the vision of a Viksit Bharat. He stressed that staying away from substance abuse is essential for both personal well being and national development.
The Prime Minister said the initiative is not only meant for young people but also for their families, communities and society as a whole. He urged citizens to actively participate in the campaign and support efforts to build a drug free nation.
The launch event was attended virtually by a large number of young participants, many of whom identified themselves as representatives of Generation Z. The campaign seeks to inspire youth to reject substance abuse and become ambassadors of positive social change within their communities.
The initiative marks the beginning of a 100 week nationwide Jan Bhagidari campaign, under which awareness programmes and community activities will be organised every Sunday across the country.
Planned activities include sports competitions, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness drives, street plays, discussion forums, art competitions and other community engagement initiatives to promote a drug free lifestyle.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya said the campaign builds on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which was launched in 2020 as part of the government’s efforts to eliminate substance abuse across the country.
The campaign aims to encourage greater public participation and strengthen awareness initiatives to create a healthier and drug free society.
