Police Commemoration Week Blood Donation Camps Across Hyderabad
Anand said the police department was organising various programmes until October 31 to honour police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. He noted that while people celebrated festivals with their families, police personnel continued working to protect the public, maintain communal harmony and prevent untoward incidents.
The DGP appealed to private hospitals to promote public confidence in blood and organ donation by ensuring transparency in their practices. He stressed that voluntary blood donation was crucial for meeting emergency medical needs, particularly for accident victims, patients undergoing surgery and people with thalassemia who require regular transfusions.
He congratulated the organisers, medical teams and donors for their contribution to the campaign. According to Anand, similar blood donation camps were being conducted at 37 locations across Hyderabad, with approximately 5,000 units of blood expected to be collected.
During the programme, Anand also flagged off vehicles under the Spandana initiative. The initiative aims to strengthen responses to Dial 112 emergency calls involving women’s safety and child protection.
The dedicated vehicles are intended to help response teams reach emergencies more effectively and coordinate with the Dial 112 system, improving assistance for women and children in need.
