Poll Schedule For 3 MLC Seats Released: Rajat
Hyderabad, May 7 (Maxim News): Election schedule for three MLC seats of Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda and Warangal under local bodies’ quota was released on Tuesday.
Talking to mediapersons here today, State Election Commissioner Rajat Kumar said all the arrangements for holding elections to the three seats were being made. He also said the polling will be conducted as per the old voters list and the tenure of the sitting members will be ending on July 5. He also clarified that election notification was issued for three seats against whom, there were no court cases.
Rajat Kumar said another notification will be issued soon for conducting elections to the remaining under the MLA quota. He also clarified that the Members on whom there were court cases will be eligible to participate in voting. He said nominations were being accepted from Tuesday till May 14. The Commission will scrutinize the nomination on May 15 and withdrawals will be on 17 and polls will be held on May 31 followed by results on June 3.
Of the three former MLCs, Patnam Narender Reddy (Ranga Reddy Local Authorities’ constituency) and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy (Nalgonda Local Authorities’ constituency) were elected as MLAs in December 2018. TRS member ’ Narender Reddy represents Kodangal, while Rajagopal Reddy is the MLA from Munugode segment. The third former MLC Konda Muralidhar (Warangal Local Authorities’ constituency) had resigned from the Council after switching loyalties from TRS to Congress.
The terms of all three MLCs would have continued till January 4, 2022. Outgoing MPTCs and ZPTCs will be able to cast their votes as their terms will be over only after May 31. On the other hand, as the elections for sarpanches were over long ago, they will have voting rights in the MLC by-polls. (Maxim News)
