Hyderabad, June 12: Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy alleged that SIR was being used as a political tool under the guise of legal procedures and accused the Centre of attempting to influence electoral outcomes.
Addressing a meeting of booth level agents in Yedulapuram of Khammam district on Friday, the minister called on party workers to remain alert during voter verification and electoral processes.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said booth level agents should closely monitor vote mapping activities and ensure that eligible voters are not removed from electoral rolls.
He alleged that votes could be deleted on various grounds and expressed concern that voter deletions may disproportionately affect areas where the Congress has strong support.
The minister claimed that similar measures had influenced political outcomes in other states and urged party workers to actively protect voter participation.
Referring to recent political developments, Ponguleti alleged that Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan was treated unfairly after her Rajya Sabha nomination was rejected over a case registered in Telangana.
He also accused the BJP of using institutions for political advantage and alleged attempts to influence elected representatives.
Ponguleti called upon Congress leaders and workers to stand united behind Rahul Gandhi and strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
The minister urged booth level agents to work carefully during the electoral process and remain vigilant to ensure that eligible voters retain their voting rights.
