Calling the statement “false and misleading,” Ponguleti said the Union government had not provided even a single rupee for Medaram’s development.
Speaking to the media at Medaram along with Minister Seethakka on Thursday, Ponguleti asserted that the entire development of Medaram was being undertaken by the Telangana government.

Srinivas Reddy accused Kishan Reddy of indulging in “mere rhetoric without action” and misleading the public with baseless claims.
“The Centre has not extended any financial assistance for Medaram. All infrastructure works and arrangements are being carried out solely by the state government,” Ponguleti said.

The minister reiterated the long-standing demand to accord national festival status to the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara, one of the largest tribal congregations in the world.
Srinivas Reddy said the Telangana government had repeatedly urged the Centre to recognise the Jatara as a ‘National Festival’ but received no positive response so far.

Ponguleti emphasised that granting national status would ensure better infrastructure, facilities for devotees, and dedicated central funding for the historic tribal festival.
The remarks come amid growing political sparring between the state and the Centre over funding, development claims, and recognition of Telangana’s cultural and religious events. (Maxim News)
