Ponnam Prabhakar hits back at KCR | Hyderabad, April 21: Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday strongly reacted to BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao’s call to unseat the Congress government. He said the ruling party would not sit idle in the face of political attacks.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Ponnam said an Opposition leader should give constructive suggestions to the government. However, he questioned how criticism alone could help the state.
He said the Congress government came to power through a democratic mandate. Therefore, he made it clear that the party did not gain power through anyone’s favour.
Ponnam Prabhakar hits back at KCR
Ponnam Prabhakar said the Congress government was not afraid of threats or harsh remarks from KCR. He added that the people of Telangana had elected Congress with trust and clear support.
He also expressed confidence that Congress would remain in power in Telangana for the next ten years. Moreover, he said the government was working with focus and commitment.
The minister also reacted to senior leader T Jeevan Reddy joining BRS. He said Congress had given Jeevan Reddy a B Form 14 times in elections.
Therefore, he asked what contribution Jeevan Reddy made to strengthen the party in return. He said leaders should remember the opportunities given by Congress.
Ponnam further said the Congress party and the government were working together like a strong pair of bullocks. As a result, he claimed governance and party organisation were moving in the same direction.
He mocked BRS claims that the government announced Rythu Bharosa only after KCR held a public meeting. He called the statement laughable and politically motivated.
The minister also accused the previous BRS government of creating a financial crisis in the state. Because of that burden, he said some welfare schemes faced delays.
However, he asserted that the Congress government was implementing every election promise step by step. Meanwhile, he said more welfare measures would reach people soon.
The latest exchange of words has further intensified the political battle between Congress and BRS in Telangana.
