Ponnam Slams Govt For Threatening Mallanna Sagar Project Displaced Farmers

Hyderabad, May 13 (Maxim News): TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar here on Monday alleged that the State government was threatening the displaced farmers of Mallanna Sagar Irrigation project. He also alleged that the TRS government was misleading the courts as well in the award of compensation to the affected farmers of the project.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan here today, Prabhakar demanded that the State government pay fair compensation to all the affected farmers before taking up the project works. He also demanded that the State government implement the provisions of Land Acquisition Act strictly in payment of compensation.

Prabhakar alleged that the State government was executing the works under the supervision of the local police without making payment of compensation to the farmers. He also alleged that the names of fake beneficiaries were also coming to the fore in the Mallanna Sagar project. He urged the High Court to set up a fact-finding committee on the issue in order to find out the realities. (Maxim News)
