Preity Zinta Student Protests | Mumbai, July 22: Actor Preity Zinta has expressed concern over the ongoing student protests in Delhi, urging support for educational reforms while cautioning against attempts to divert peaceful demonstrations for other agendas.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Preity said students deserve support and meaningful reforms. However, she stressed that peaceful protests should not be “hijacked by anti national elements” to create unrest. She called for protecting the original purpose of the movement.
She wrote, “While it’s important to support our students and ask for educational reforms that positively impact the future of our youth, it’s also very important that peaceful protests by students are not hijacked by anti national elements to create chaos and change the nature of the protest.”

Furthermore, the actor expressed concern over growing hatred and division on social media. She questioned whether disruptive forces, both within and outside the country, were attempting to exploit students’ anger and frustration.
“Seeing so much hate and divide online makes me wonder if bad elements in and outside our country have already started to work overtime to weaponise the anger and frustration felt by our students,” she said.
Preity also reaffirmed her faith in democracy, the rule of law, and the government. Moreover, she appealed for constructive dialogue between all stakeholders to resolve the issue peacefully.
“I have always believed in hard work, equality and excellence, and that should never be compromised. I also believe in our democracy, law and order and our government. Therefore, I sincerely hope that both sides enter into meaningful and constructive dialogue and weed out any nefarious elements and agendas out of this protest and conversation, so the future is bright for our youth and for our democracy. Jai Hind!” she added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Preity had voiced support for activist Sonam Wangchuk and the protesting students. She urged the government to begin meaningful discussions before Wangchuk’s health deteriorated further during his prolonged fast.
In her earlier post, she appealed to Wangchuk to end his fast while reiterating her support for students seeking improvements in the country’s education system. She said her “heartfelt and unwavering support” remained with every student and with Wangchuk in their efforts to strengthen educational reforms.
