Private Bus Catches Fire At KPHB, All 20 Passengers Escape

Hyderabad, April 18: A major fire broke out in a private travel bus in the KPHB area on Friday night, triggering panic among passengers. However, timely action by the bus crew ensured that all 20 passengers were safely evacuated, averting a major tragedy.

According to police and local residents, the AC sleeper bus belonging to Sri Durga Maheshwari Travels had started from Miyapur and was heading towards SR Nagar, en route to Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh, when the incident occurred.

At around 11 pm, as the bus reached near Padmavathi Plaza bus stop in KPHB, flames were first noticed in the driver’s cabin. Acting swiftly, the crew immediately stopped the vehicle and helped all passengers disembark safely. Within minutes, the fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire bus.

On receiving information, Kukatpally Traffic Circle Inspector Janayya and fire personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, though it caused heavy traffic congestion in the busy KPHB area.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
