Hyderabad, Sept. 7 (Maxim News): Prof Rama Kondapalli highlighted the role of teachers in social and economic development at a Teachers’ Day programme at MANUU.
The Maulana Azad National Urdu University organised the academic programme through its School of Education and Training.
Prof Rama Kondapalli, Professor of Practice at MANUU, delivered the keynote lecture. She spoke on “Universities as Centres of Economic and Social Development: Contributions of Teachers and other Academic Stakeholders.”
Vice Chancellor Prof Syed Ainul Hasan chaired the programme. Faculty members, academic stakeholders and students attended the event.
Prof Kondapalli highlighted MANUU’s contribution to widening access to higher education and skill development. She focused on students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
She said universities must connect knowledge with communities. They must also understand local concerns and work towards practical solutions.
Furthermore, Prof Kondapalli stressed the need for continuous improvement and learning. She linked this need to ongoing changes in education, administration and governance.
She also said institutions should view their achievements as results of sustained effort. According to her, achievements should not mark the end of institutional development.
During her presentation, Prof Kondapalli used a PowerPoint presentation to explain these issues. She highlighted the wider responsibilities that universities carry beyond classroom teaching.
MANUU Focuses on Teachers, Student Empowerment and Social Change
In his presidential address,Prof Syed Ainul Hasan reiterated MANUU’s core vision of empowering students.
He said teachers should also serve as mentors. He urged them to maintain meaningful contact with students beyond regular classroom instruction.
The Vice Chancellor said teachers should guide students through academic and personal challenges. He also urged students and teachers to keep pace with a changing world.
He stressed continuous learning, self empowerment and personality development. He linked these areas with the university’s wider mission to serve marginalised sections of society.
Registrar Prof Ishtiaque Ahmed said universities serve purposes beyond learning. He described them as centres of innovation, research, entrepreneurship and critical thinking.
He said universities create knowledge and nurture talent. They also prepare young people to contribute meaningfully to national growth and development.
Prof Mohd Moshahid, Dean of the School of Education and Training, spoke about the importance of Teachers’ Day.
He highlighted the dignity and significance of the teaching profession. He said teachers play a central role in shaping society and future generations.
Prof Viquar Unnisa, Head of the Department of Education and Training, delivered the welcome address.
She highlighted the role of teachers in shaping individuals and nurturing values. She also stressed their contribution to learner empowerment and social progress.
Prof Md Athar Hussain introduced the guest speaker. Prof Akthar Parveen proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr Shaikh Ehteshamuddin, Assistant Professor, hosted the programme. Prof Ashwani served as the programme coordinator.
The Teachers’ Day programme therefore brought academic leadership and faculty members together around the wider role of education.
The discussions stressed that teachers can influence students beyond academic performance. They can also support personal growth, social responsibility and lifelong learning.
