Protests In Iran: Death Toll Rises To 2571

Tehran/Internet/Hyderabad, Jan 14 (Maxim News): Protests against the Khamenei government have intensified in Iran. The government is cracking down on protesters. The US-based Human Rights Watch reported on Wednesday that 2,571 people have died in these protests so far. Of these, 2,403 are protesters, while 147 are government personnel and government employees. It said that 12 children and 9 civilians who were not involved in the protests have also died.

Meanwhile, the government itself admitted that 2,000 people had died in the protests. However, the pro-opposition website Iran International strongly denied the government’s announced figure. It revealed that more than 12,000 Iranian citizens had died at the hands of Iranian security forces. It described it as the largest massacre in Iran’s modern history. The website revealed that the Iranian government had stated this death toll based on information received from its own security agencies and other organizations. However, due to the current ban on the internet in the country, complete information is not available, and therefore the number of deaths is unclear, according to several media outlets. An Iranian official said that terrorists were behind the deaths of civilians and security personnel. However, he did not specify which terrorists killed them.(Maxim News)
