PT Usha Elected As President Of Indian Olympic Association
Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov 28 (Maxim News): Legendary athlete PT Usha has been elected as the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). Union law Minister Kiran Rijiju congratulated her on this occasion.
58 year old PT Usha filed her nomination for the post of President on Sunday. But as no one else filed nomination for this post, PT Usha was elected unanimously. With this, she created a record as the first woman to ascend this post. This is the first time in her career that 58 year old Usha will be serving as the president of a sports organisation.
PT Usha who is from Kerala has won a total of 102 medals in 25 different national and international events in her 25 year career. BJP has nominated her to Rajya Sabha on July 6, 2022 for her contribution in the field of sports. 24 candidates are competing for the remaining 12 posts in the Indian Olympic Association elections to be held on December 10.
