Hyderabad, March 25: The Radio MANUU launch was inaugurated by Rajeev Kumar Jain, Director General of All India Radio, at Maulana Azad National Urdu University. He said community radio is a useful communication medium for educational institutions due to its cost effectiveness, portability, and flexible content formats.
Speaking as the chief guest, Jain noted that community radio has a reach of 16 km. However, he added that its reach can expand through social media platforms. He also said such stations can engage listeners over time through consistent content. According to him, initial interest builds through signature tunes, and later audiences connect with content.
Meanwhile, he shared that 560 community radio stations are operating across the country. Of these, nearly 38 percent are run by educational institutions. He said community radio empowers people as it is owned and managed by them and serves their needs. Therefore, its growth supports the government’s vision of inclusive communication and outreach.
Inauguration ceremony and role of Radio MANUU
During the event, Jain inaugurated the station logo and ID of Radio MANUU 90.0 FM. The teaser and radio jingle were also presented. The station will be run by the Instructional Media Centre of the university. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, presided over the programme.
Jain expressed hope that the station would help in nation building through knowledge sharing. He said Aakashvani has always supported community radio. He also assured that good content from such stations can be broadcast on Aakashvani. In addition, he invited talented individuals to associate with the radio platform.
MANUU officials stress outreach and community connect
Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan said the platform will help exchange ideas and reach audiences beyond the campus. He added that it can cross boundaries and strengthen communication. Therefore, it will serve as a valuable tool for the university.
Registrar Ishtiaque Ahmed said Radio MANUU is a powerful asset and a key addition to outreach programmes. He said it will help connect with communities and share knowledge effectively.

Mr. Rizwan Ahmad, Director of IMC, said the station will offer diverse programmes. These will cover language, literature, history, heritage, nutrition, and environment. He also thanked supporting organisations including State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Shaheen Group of Institutions.
Dr. Md. Imtiyaz Alam coordinated the programme, while Mr. Omar Azmi delivered the vote of thanks. Later, the Radio Gallery and Studio were also inaugurated. A live broadcast session featuring Jain and Hasan followed, hosted by RJ Md. Aamir Badr.
