Hyderabad: After days of intense heatwave conditions across Telangana, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and light rainfall in Hyderabad and several districts till May 29, offering much-needed relief to people struggling with soaring temperatures.
According to the latest weather bulletin issued by IMD Hyderabad, light rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds are likely to occur in Hyderabad over the next few days. Officials said the weather activity is expected to gradually reduce the impact of the severe heatwave conditions prevailing across the State.
The forecast comes at a time when several districts in Telangana continue to record dangerously high temperatures. Data released by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) showed that Nalgonda recorded the highest maximum temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
Apart from Nalgonda, temperatures crossed the 46-degree mark in districts including Jagtial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Suryapet, Nizamabad, Khammam, Mancherial, Mulugu, Peddapalli, Karimnagar and Mahabubabad.
In Hyderabad, the Charminar area recorded the highest temperature at 42.5 degrees Celsius, reflecting the intense summer conditions in the city. Several localities in the city also witnessed uncomfortable humidity and hot winds during afternoon hours.
IMD Predicts Gusty Winds And Scattered Rainfall
The IMD stated that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely to affect different parts of Telangana till May 29. Weather experts said the changing weather pattern may help bring down temperatures slightly across the State.
Officials also warned residents to remain cautious during sudden rain spells and gusty winds, as traffic disruptions and temporary waterlogging may occur in low-lying areas of Hyderabad and nearby districts.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has advised people to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated. Authorities urged elderly persons, children and those with health complications to take extra precautions amid fluctuating weather conditions.
The expected rainfall is likely to provide temporary respite from the scorching heat that has affected normal life across Telangana for the past several days.
