Rains in Telangana to continue for four days, yellow alert issued
Hyderabad, June 15: ‘Yellow alert’ has been issued to Telangana as heavy rains are likely to occur from Wednesday.
The IMD predicted that heavy rains coupled with thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur in several districts in the State as the southwest monsoon finally arrived in Hyderabad after a delay of five days.
The officials said that rains may occur in Nalgonda, Nagar Kurnool, Wanaparthy, Gadwal, Mahbubnagar, Narayanapet, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Hanamkonda, Mulugu, Bhupalpalli and Warangal districts by Wednesday afternoon.
The IMD issued Yellow alert warning to Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Mahbubnagar, Nagar Kurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Gadwal, Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Suryapet, Warangal, Jangaon, Siddipet and Bhongiri and cautioned people to be alert.
GHMC officials alerted people about heavy rains in Hyderabad and asked employees and others to reach their homes at the earliest.
The monsoon expected to arrive in the State in June first week. But was delayed due to weak sea winds in Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, according to IMD.
