Rajiv Ranjan Singh To Lead National Workshop On Breed Development In India Today in Lucknow
Lucknow, July 12, 2025 — In a major push towards enhancing livestock productivity and conserving indigenous breeds, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, will chair the National Workshop on Breed Development in India on July 13, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Convention Centre, Lucknow.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, will inaugurate the event as the Chief Guest, alongside Ministers of State Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel and Shri George Kurian, and UP Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Dharmpal Singh. The event will also witness the participation of senior officials and stakeholders from across the country.
Organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, this national-level workshop aims to create a robust ecosystem for breed development, with a focus on:
- Conservation and promotion of indigenous livestock breeds
- Enhancing genetic potential and productivity
- Strengthening climate-resilient livestock systems
- Encouraging inter-state and inter-UT collaboration for sustainable animal husbandry development
Key Highlights of the Event:
- Inauguration of Artificial Intelligence Training Institute in Gorakhpur by the Chief Minister
- Launch of Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) projects in Uttar Pradesh
- Release of a national framework for the Establishment of Breeders’ Associations, setting the foundation for organized, data-driven breed improvement
- A dedicated Farmer Interaction session, where farmers will directly engage with the CM and Union Minister to share feedback, concerns, and suggestions.
The workshop is expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating self-reliance in livestock development under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, while promoting sustainability and rural prosperity.
