Ramayana Dance Performance Enchants Beijing Audience
- Chinese artists stage ‘Adi Kavyam – The First Poem’ at Indian Embassy
- Cultural fusion highlights growing India-China artistic engagement
Beijing/Internet/Hyderabad, Nov 3 (Maxim News): A spectacular dance performance titled ‘Adi Kavyam – The First Poem,’ inspired by the Ramayana, captivated audiences in Beijing on Saturday. Presented by Chinese artists under the direction of Jin Shanshan, an expert in Indian dance, the production brought together more than 50 local performers at the Indian Embassy. The piece was based on a translation of the Ramayana by the eminent Chinese scholar and late professor Xie Jianlin.
Described by the Indian Embassy on Twitter as a “wonderful cultural fusion,” the event drew a large audience and stood as a testament to the blossoming cultural dialogue between India and China. Enthusiastic viewers witnessed an impressive display of choreography that seamlessly blended classical Indian movements with traditional Chinese artistic elements, offering a unique interpretation of one of India’s most revered epics.
This performance marked the second staging of this distinctive dance form in Beijing, following its earlier presentation in January this year. The recurring interest and enthusiastic turnout underline the growing appeal of Indian cultural traditions among Chinese audiences. For many attendees, the show served as an opportunity to experience the depth of Indian philosophy and aesthetics through the universal language of dance.
Last month, the Indian Embassy in Beijing also organized a conference titled ‘Sangama – The Fusion of Indian Philosophical Traditions.’ Prominent Chinese scholars participated, engaging in discussions on the Bhagavad Gita and the enduring values of Indian civilization. Events like ‘Adi Kavyam’ and ‘Sangama’ continue to build strong cultural bridges between the two nations, deepening mutual understanding through shared appreciation of heritage and art. (Maxim News)
