Ramchander Rao Arrested While Heading To Secretariat Protest
Hyderabad, Aug 22 (Maxim News) The State BJP Chief N Ramchander Rao was arrested by Moinabad police as he was heading towards the Secretariat for laying a siege to it in protest against the Congress government’s failure in addressing the grievances of different sections.
The State BJP Chief participated in different programmes organized by the party under Chevella constituency in Rangareddy on Friday.
Accordingly, he interacted with cotton farmers at Khanapur village and enquired about availability of urea, seeds and the cost incurred for cultivating one acre.
Later, as the BJP Chief was heading towards Hyderabad, the police intercepted his vehicle and took him into custody. Mild tension enveloped the area as the BJP workers raised slogans against the police and Congress government.
They squatted on the roads and obstructed the police from arresting Ramchander Rao. After the police took him to the police station, BJP workers turned up in large numbers at the police station.
Condemning the State BJP president’s arrest, Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay sought an explanation from the State government as to why the BJP leader was arrested.
“The Congress government is trying to cover up its failures by arresting BJP leaders. The BJP president along with leaders was staging protests democratically yet, the police arrested him. This is uncalled for,” Bandi Sanjay said in a statement.
Ramchander Rao and all the BJP leaders should be released immediately, failing which, the Congress government would have to face severe consequences, he warned. (Maxim News)
