He made these remarks on Tuesday while taking part in a wall writing campaign in Tarnaka. The campaign aimed to mobilise support for a public meeting ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.

Rao also criticised comments on West Bengal elections made by Mamata Banerjee. He said her allegations of vote theft in several seats were baseless. He termed support from Rahul Gandhi as unreasonable.

He alleged that those who talk about vote theft have a history of such practices. He added that they won earlier due to such actions, but are now raising allegations after losing.

Rao said political parties must accept the people’s verdict after elections. He stressed that questioning the mandate undermines democratic values. He further stated that it is not appropriate to make remarks that disrespect voters.

He noted that the BJP respected the mandate when Mamata Banerjee won elections earlier. However, he said opposition parties now blame institutions like EVMs and the Election Commission after defeats.

He emphasised that the people’s verdict is supreme in a democracy. He added that all parties must uphold and respect it.
