Hyderabad, July 16: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchandra Rao on Thursday criticised the Congress government over the alleged incident at Success School in Saidabad, demanding that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy respond and order a thorough investigation.
Rao alleged that a Class 2 Hindu student was assigned homework to recite the Kalma and Surah Al Fatiha, calling the incident a serious matter. He said the Chief Minister should take responsibility and ensure appropriate action against those responsible.
In a press statement, Ramchandra Rao alleged that the state government had failed to take strict action despite the seriousness of the issue. He argued that removing a teacher alone would not be sufficient and said the school management should also be held accountable if any wrongdoing is established.
The BJP leader praised the student’s mother for raising the issue with the school administration. He further alleged that educational institutions should not impose religious practices on students and stressed that schools must respect the constitutional rights and religious freedom of every child.
Rao also claimed that similar concerns had been raised about practices in some educational institutions and urged the government to conduct an impartial and comprehensive inquiry.
He demanded strict legal action against all those found responsible and said the authorities should consider further action, including reviewing the school’s recognition, if violations are confirmed.
The controversy has triggered political reactions, with the BJP targeting the Congress government over the incident. The state government has not issued a detailed response to Ramchandra Rao’s latest remarks.
