Hyderabad, Oct. 3: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Sudhakar Malli as Executive Director with effect from October 1. The appointment was announced on Friday, October 2.
Before his promotion, Malli served as Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the RBI’s Department of Supervision. As Executive Director, he will oversee the Department of Supervision (Supervisory Assessment).
According to the RBI, Malli has nearly three decades of experience as a central banker. He has spent more than 25 years supervising banks, non-banking financial companies and cooperative banks.

Malli also has around five years of supervisory experience in overseas jurisdictions. In addition, he has worked in currency management. He holds a BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
Meanwhile, the RBI appointed Suman Ray as Executive Director last month. Before his promotion, Ray served as Regional Director for Maharashtra. He now oversees the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation and Premises departments.
Ray has more than three decades of experience at the RBI. His work has covered currency management, financial inclusion, payment and settlement systems, consumer education and protection, and human resources. He also served as Secretary to the Western Area Local Board.
Earlier, in August, the RBI appointed Monisha Chakraborty as Executive Director. She oversees the Foreign Exchange Department and the Financial Markets Regulation Department.
Chakraborty has more than three decades of experience at the central bank. Her work has covered supervision, foreign exchange, and government and bank accounts. She also served on a technical committee reviewing the RBI’s balance sheet and profit and loss account. Additionally, she has held the position of Banking Ombudsman.
