Hyderabad, Jan.21 (Maxim News): Telangana State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy today said re-polling will be conducted if tender votes were polled in the municipal polls on January 22.
Addressing the media here, the SEC said polling in 129 urban local bodies (ULBs) will be held on January 22 from 7 am to 5 pm. Polling will be conducted again if a single tender vote was polled, he said. The SEC also warned of severe action against those violating the poll code. “We have instructed the officials concerned to initiate stern action against people who cast fake votes or double votes”, he clarified. He also said all arrangements have been made for smooth and fair polls in the ULBs. The election officials and political leaders have to cooperate for fair polls, he said, adding those who give wrong information on poll expenditure will also face action.
The details of the candidates in the election fray will be displayed on notice boards at polling stations. He also informed that the details of the candidates’ history and crime history and assets will be displayed. The voters can see them and decide whom to vote, the SEC said.
State Election Commissioner appealed to all political parties, candidates and officials to ensure smooth conduct of the polling. Arrangements were made to check flow of money and liquor and violators will be dealt with seriously, he warned. (Maxim News)
