Reliance Industries ranked 20th in the world, highest among Indian companies in World’s Best Employers rankings

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s oil-to-telecom Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is ranked India’s best employer and among top 20 worldwide, according to the recently released Forbes’ World’s Best Employers ranking 2022.

The Forbes list is topped by South Korean smartphone and electronics maker Samsung, which is followed by tech giants Microsoft, IBM, Alphabet, and Apple.

American companies occupy second to twelfth positions on the list followed by German carmaker BMW, retailer Amazon and sports retailer Decathlon in the 13th, 14th, and 15th positions on the list.

With 230,0000 employees, Reliance Industries occupies 20th place on the list and is the only Indian company in the top 100. Only 7 Indian companies figure in the top 500 in the list.

Other Indian companies on the Forbes’ World’s Best Employers 2022 are HDFC Bank, occupying 137th position, and Bajaj at 173rd, Aditya Birla Group at 240th position, Larsen & Toubro at 354th, ICICI Bank at 365th, HCL Technologies at 455th, and State Bank of India at 499th. Adani Enterprises, Infosys, and WNS Global Services also figure in the list of 800 companies compiled by Statista for Forbes.

The Forbes rankings are based on research conducted by Statista involving surveys of 150,000 full-time and part-time employees working for multinationals and institutions across 57 countries. The employees were asked to rate companies based on economic performance on impact and image, talent development, gender equality, social responsibility and more. Employees were also asked whether they would recommend their present employers to family and friends.

“Participants were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their employers to friends and family and to evaluate other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively. This year’s list comprises 800 companies that received the highest scores,” Forbes said in the rankings published in October this year.

800 companies that received the highest scores made it to the list.
