Revanth asks BJP’s Central Govt to get GO 317 scrapped by President

Hyderabad, January 10: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP A. Revanth Reddy demanded that the BJP Government at the Centre initiate measures to scrap the GO 317 as it violates the provision of the Presidential Order.

Revanth Reddy, who just recovered from the Covid-19 for the second time, was addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday. Senior leaders including Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Ponnam Prabhakar, Mahesh Kumar Goud, Dr. Mallu Ravi, Maheshwar Reddy and others were also present.

The TPCC Chief said that the Congress party, irrespective of whether it was in power or not, always worked for the benefit of the common people. He said that the Congress party had identified the problems being faced by the people and sought their immediate resolution. However, he said that the TRS and BJP were not exploring solutions, but dragging on public issues to extract political gains.

Revanth Reddy said that the GO 317, meant for allocation and transfer of government employees and teachers, was issued as per the Presidential Order which was introduced during the previous Congress regime to do justice with the people of Telangana. After the formation of Telangana, the first four zones went to Andhra Pradesh while Zone 5 and Zone 6 remained with Telangana. The State Government re-organised those zones in accordance with the new districts. However, utter injustice was done with the employees and teachers in the GO 317 and locals were not given preferences which were mandated in the Presidential Order.

The TPCC Chief said that the Central Govt could get the GO 317 scrapped by referring it to the President of India. He said four BJP MPs, including Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay, could make a representation with the President seeking scrapping of GO 317. Instead of finding an immediate solution to the problem, which so far claimed lives of several employees and teachers, BJP is politicising the issue. Several actors from other States were imported to play a role in BJP’s drama on GO 317. He said Bandi Sanjay had ridiculously promised that the BJP would scrap the GO if it comes to power in the 2023 elections. He said that the BJP Govt at the Centre could resolve the issue with the stroke of a pen. But its leaders are playing with the lives of employees and teachers by making it a political issue and dragging it, he said.

Commenting on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s meeting with the Left party leaders, Revanth Reddy said KCR floated the rumors of a non-BJP and non-Congress front on the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said KCR tries to target parties who are either constituents of United Progressive Alliance like the NCP or DMK or those working in understanding with the Congress like the CPI and CPI (M). His only intention is to harm the Congress party by distancing other parties from it with the talk of a third-front. He said KCR never tried to discuss a third-front proposal with the AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy or other parties who are part of the BJP-led NDA.

Revanth Reddy pointed out that the CPI (M) had clearly announced its support for Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh polls. He challenged KCR to declare his support for Akhilesh Yadav’s party in UP elections and also campaign against Yogi Adityanath. He said KCR is implementing the agenda given by PM Modi.

The TPCC Chief strongly condemned Assam Chief Minister Hemanth Biswa Sarma for his remarks against former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He said Sarma or any other BJP leader had no stature to comment anything on Smt. Indira Gandhi who defeated Pakistan in a declared war and later, she also sacrificed her life for the country.

He also ridiculed the visit of BJP Chief Ministers and other leaders to meet Bandi Sanjay after his arrest over a fake protest on GO 317. Although he had spent just a day in jail, the BJP leaders are highlighting him as a big freedom fighter who sacrificed his life.

Revanth Reddy said that the nationalism of BJP was totally fake. He said after the Galwan Valley Attack in which over 20 soldiers including Commanding Officer Colonel Santosh Babu of Suryapet were martyred, BJP Govt banned a few Chinese Apps. But the ‘so-called’ ban on Chinese items proved to be a hoax and BJP’s fake patriotism was exposed after it hired Chinese firms to construct the statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel called as the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. He said it was strange that the BJP Govt misled the people with catchy slogans like ‘Make in India’.

The TPCC Chief said that CM KCR has invited PM Modi to unveil the statue of Ramanuja Charya which was also constructed in China. He asked whether PM Modi would unveil the made in China statue.

Revanth Reddy said that the Congress party has been playing the role of a responsible opposition by raising all the issues of public importance. He said the issues like atrocities on Dalits and Girijans, unemployment, paddy procurement and now the GO 317 were taken up with utmost sincerity by the Congress leaders at all levels. However, TRS and BJP are working in tandem to divert people’s attention from real issues. He said that the Congress party would continue to expose the unholy nexus between the two ruling parties who deceived the people with fake promises and still cheating them with false claims.
