Revanth Govt. Handed Over Investigation Into Massive Corruption In Kaleshwaram Project To CBI
Hyderabad, Sept 1 (Maxim News): Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has handed over the investigation into the massive corruption in the Kaleshwaram project to the Central Investigation Agency (CBI). CM Revanth Reddy announced in the Assembly that the investigation into the irregularities in the project will be handed over to the CBI.
He said that the decision was taken after considering the irregularities identified by the NDSA in the planning, design and construction of the key Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages in the Kaleshwaram project and the points raised by the commission. However, it seems that there is a big mistake behind handing over the Kaleshwaram project to the CBI for investigation.
The government says that the project involves the state government as well as several central government agencies, banks and inter-state affairs. Therefore, if the state police or other state agencies conduct an investigation, it will be difficult to be impartial and may become politically controversial, according to the Congress. The CBI investigation will attract nationwide attention, and since the CBI is under the jurisdiction of the central government, there is a possibility of a more comprehensive investigation.
BJP has also always demanded that the Kaleshwaram project case be handed over to the CBI. Now that the case has been handed over to the CBI, if no action is taken, it may send a signal to the people that BRS and BJP are one and the same. If the CBI takes a decision, it can be said that they did not act against KCR in a biased manner, and that the Center itself decided that KCR made a mistake. Revanth believes that this will also be like keeping the promise given by the Congress party during the elections that there was corruption in the Kaleshwaram project, an investigation will be conducted and the culprits will be punished.
BRS has also been alerted by the state government’s decision. Harish and KTR met former CM and party chief KCR. The meeting is taking place at Erravalli farmhouse. It seems that they are discussing the Kaleshwaram case being handed over to the CBI, the developments in the Assembly, and future action. On the other hand, it is known that KCR and Harish Rao have already filed a petition in the High Court on the Kaleshwaram report. The High Court will hear this petition tomorrow.
On the other hand, former minister and BJP MP Etela Rajender said that the PC Ghosh Commission report is full of mistakes.. This report is not sustainable. He said that the Congress handed it over to the CBI when it could. Etela said that it did a good job by handing it over to the CBI now. Meanwhile, the then BRS government banned the CBI from entering Telangana in 2022.(Maxim News)
