RGIA Issues Guidelines for Cab Services
Hyderabad: The GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), which is operating the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), has sensitised cab operators on safety norms and issued instructions to follow while ferrying passengers.
The safety measures at the airport begin from the parking zone of the airport, where social distancing markings, digital payment options and other contact-less measures have been provided.
The airport has also come up with a mechanism to provide a sanitized taxi experience for every passenger using the airport-authorized taxi service from the airport.
Travel in utmost safety. Get into authorised cabs without worrying. We have ensured all cabs are thoroughly sanitised, fumigated & cleaned before and after every trip. #RGIA #TheNewNormal #PassengerIsPrime #TravelSafe@PMOIndia @TelanganaCMO @MoCA_GoI @MoHFW_INDIA pic.twitter.com/kEyYuxM4IG

Some of the airport-authorized taxis are also providing a plastic partition between the taxi driver and passengers. This minimizes any contact with passengers and preventing any contagion, according to a press release.
All taxi drivers have been instructed to mandatorily wear face masks at all times while driving their vehicles. The taxi drivers are also instructed to keep sanitisers in their taxis for customers’ usage.
“The taxis ferrying passengers between the airport and the city hold a very crucial role during this Covid-19 scenario. Airport authorized taxi services – Meru, Skycab, Ola, Uber, One Car and Srinivasa Tours and Travels among others have resumed their operations at the airport from May 25,” RGIA officials said.
The cab operators were also asked to disinfect the interior and exteriors of the taxis.
