- RGUKT Basar protest enters second day as students raise concerns
- Students demand compensation and better medical facilities on campus
Hyderabad: A protest by students of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies, Basar, continued for the second day on Wednesday. The agitation focuses on poor medical facilities on the campus and alleged negligence by the authorities.
The protesting students said that Mallipudi Tejashwini, a 17-year-old student from Ramachandrapuram in Medak district, died of leukaemia on Monday. She was a second-year Pre-University Course student at the university and was undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. The students claimed that her death was linked to the lack of proper medical facilities at the campus.
Meanwhile, the agitating students laid siege to the office of the Vice-Chancellor. They raised slogans and demanded justice for the deceased student. They also expressed concern that the university, which serves thousands of students, does not have diagnostic centres and basic medical amenities. According to them, early diagnosis could have helped save her life.

Furthermore, the protesters demanded compensation of Rs. 50 lakh for Tejashwini’s family. They insisted that the administration must act quickly to prevent such incidents in the future. The situation remained tense as the protest entered its second day, with no immediate resolution in sight.
