Road Accident Victims To Get Cashless Medical Care Upto Rs. 1.5 Lakh: Gadkari
Delhi/Hyderabad, Dec 18 (Maxim News) In critical moments after a road accident, when every second can decide between life and death, the absence of immediate medical care often proves fatal.
Addressing this harsh reality, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has recently, in his speech in Rajya Sabha had underscored the importance of the cashless treatment programme for road accident victims, calling it a lifesaving intervention in real-life emergencies.
Under the scheme, victims will be entitled to cashless medical care of up to Rs 1.50 lakh per person per accident for the initial seven days of hospitalisation, with the government facilitating payments to remove financial barriers to immediate treatment.
Gadkari said many victims lose precious time as families arrange money or hospitals hesitate to start treatment, a gap this programme directly addresses.
Highlighting its real-life impact, the Union Minister noted the initiative offers relief to ordinary citizens by removing the fear of high medical bills during emergencies. It is particularly beneficial for daily wage earners and economically weaker families, who are often the worst affected by sudden accidents.
The Minister also said the programme encourages bystanders and first responders to help victims reach hospitals quickly, as treatment can begin without procedural delays.
He added that the cashless treatment scheme is a crucial step towards humane, timely and inclusive emergency care, with the potential to significantly reduce road accident deaths across the country. (Maxim News)
