Road repairs to be completed on war-footing
Hyderabad: The City Convergence meeting held at HMWS&SB office today decided to give top priority to Road Safety Measures and decided to complete repairs to all the main roads under GHMC limits like road marking, reflectors, divider blocks, restoration works by end of this month.

Keeping the rainy season in view, the City Convergence meeting decided to meet twice a month as directed by Minister MA&UD. The drinking water project under HUDCO 850km road restoration works have been taken up nearly 70% and likely to be completed by this month end for this purpose Traffic, GHMC, HMWS&SB officials must work in coordination to complete it in stipulated time on priority.
The GHMC Commissioner asked the engineering department officials to chalk out an action plan and tackle water stagnation points well in advance. Pot holes on the roads have to be identified and take up restoration works on priority. It was observed that most of the construction materials are piled up at HMR works which have to be removed on priority, said the Commissioner. The NH authorities informed that the remaining 12 km work will be completed by June 3, the Commissioner added.
The Commissioner said a separate mobile app has been introduced for inspection of hotels and restaurants so that officials of HMWS&SB and GHMC conduct inspections to yield better results. There are 656 electrical poles, which are obstructing the vehicular traffic on main roads, out of which 110 poles have to be removed. The Commissioner said under Swachh Bharath Mission, the Centre will be celebrating World Environment Day on June 5 on wet and dry segregation of garbage waste. In this connection, the Commissioner requested all the Heads of the Departments to participate in the celebration.
The GHMC Commissioner also said the Traffic Police officials must take up awareness campaigns at traffic junctions about wet and dry segregation. He said for double bed room house constructions, so far 97 areas in 400 acres have been identified and remaining lands in other areas will also be handed over to GHMC for which he has requested the Ranga Reddy and Medchal Collectors to pursue the matter.
