Rotaractors performed Flash Mob to motivate people to donate blood for Thalassaemia Patients

Hyderabad: Rotaract Club of Hyderabad East and Rotaract Club of Secunderabad Medicos in collaboration with Blood Warriors India, Rotaract Club of Hyderabad Utsav and NTR Blood Bank together organized a “Mega Blood Donation Camp” on Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm at the DSL Virtue Mall, Uppal, Hyderabad.

A flash mob for awareness of blood donation was held at the same venue, several times during the blood donation camp. The Blood Donation Drive was organized to mark world Rotaract Day. Hundreds of visitors to the malls were contacted personally by Rotracted and they created awareness and need for the blood donation.

The camp was aimed to serve patients who are affected by THALASSAEMIA. Thalassaemia is an inherited blood disorder that causes the body to have less haemoglobin than normal. This blood donation drive helps the patients in their wellbeing by tackling the disease that they have been suffering from.

40 Rotaractors participated in the Flashmob. They also performed a skit to highlight the problems of Thalassaemia patients and the way forward. They conveyed a good message “you don’t have to be a doctor to save lives, you can just be a blood donor” through the skit.

Rotaract is a global organization of young people It is a service, leadership, professional and community service organization for young men and women aged 18 and over

Rotaract Clubs are known for their blood donation drives. We have organised several blood donation drives in the past decades. This year we, the Rotaract Club of Hyderabad East have come up with a mega blood donation drive, shares Proddaturu Sailesh, a representative of Rotaract in a press note issued in the city today.

The event was organised by the Directors of Community Services of Rotaract Club of Hyderabad East.

Rotaractors interacted with the people at the mall after the performance of the flash mob and talked about the importance of blood donation and the impact of donating blood to thalassemia and other blood disorder patients. We made sure to reach out to the people at the mall and encourage them to donate blood for the patients through RCHE and RAC Secunderabad Medicos Mega Blood Donation Drive.
