Hyderabad, Feb 8 (Maxim News) : The Shahalibanda Police have registered a criminal case against notorious rowdy sheeter Ayub Khan on charges of cheating, criminal intimidation, and misappropriation of cash and gold ornaments. Police have launched a manhunt to trace and arrest the accused, who is currently absconding.
According to the police, Crime No. 47/2026 was registered at Shalibanda Police Station against Ayub Khan and another accused, Mohd. Farooq, a resident of Kumarwadi. The case was booked following a complaint by a local man who alleged that he was cheated under the guise of a business partnership.
Police said the complainant was induced into a business deal in 2024 and invested Rs 4.70 lakh. However, the accused allegedly diverted the profits and failed to settle the promised returns. As the losses mounted, the complainant repeatedly sought a resolution, but the accused avoided repayment.
Meanwhile, the complaint further stated that the accused later took gold ornaments weighing about six tolas from the victim. They reportedly claimed the ornaments would be used to clear business debts. However, the gold was allegedly mortgaged and never returned to the complainant.
In January 2025, when the victim again demanded settlement of his dues, Ayub Khan allegedly intervened and threatened him with serious consequences. Police said the accused criminally intimidated the complainant to prevent him from approaching law enforcement authorities. Fearing for his safety, the victim remained silent for several months before finally lodging a formal complaint.
During the investigation, police revealed that Ayub Khan is a habitual offender with as many as 79 criminal cases registered against him across various police stations. Given his criminal background, senior officers have directed special teams to trace and apprehend him at the earliest.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Charminar Zone, Kiran Khare, said the police would show zero tolerance towards rowdyism, intimidation, extortion, and organised criminal threats. He added that strict action would be taken against those who attempt to misuse fear to silence victims.
Police said further investigation is underway, and efforts are being intensified to arrest the accused and recover the cheated amount and gold ornaments. (Maxim News)
