RTC Revenue Should Be Increased: Increase Bus Services To New Colonies In Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Nov 13 (Maxim News): Minister for Transport and BC Welfare, Ponnam Prabhakar said that the focus should be on additional income, not just Mahalkshmi ticket income.
He held a review meeting with RTC senior officials. He said that women have used 237 crore zero tickets in RTC so far. The government has paid Rs. 7,980 crore to RTC. He advised the officials to further increase the income through advertisements on tickets received in RTC buses, bus stations & team missions.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has instructed RTC MD Nagi Reddy to form a special committee to study the reasons for the loss-making depots of Tandur, Vikarabad, BHEL, Miyapur, Kushaiguda, Dilsukhnagar, hakimpet, Raniganj and Midhani, as well as the local conditions and measures to be taken to return the depots to profitability.
He instructed the officials to prepare an action plan to increase the number of buses in line with the increasing number of passengers in the city. Since upto 500 electric buses are already running in the city, the 2,000 buses allocated to Hyderabad under the PM E-Drive are coming in phases, and it is suggested that the infrastructure for charging stations be provided.
