He warned not to respond to any phone calls or IVR calls claiming that drug parcels had arrived. Sajjanar suggested that you report to the cybercrime helpline 1930 if you are the victim of such scams. Sajjanar expressed regret that many victims have expressed their feelings that they have been cheated and that is why it is sad that even highly educated people who should be vigilant about such incidents are being cheated. In this manner, Sajjanar revealed that a Ph.D. scholar of IIT Hyderabad was robbed of Rs. 30 lakh after he answered the phone calls. Sajjanar explained that the scholar was made to believe that there was a threat to the family’s life by terrorist sleeper cells, and they kept him from leaving the house for 6 days on the pretext of house arrest.
He warned that cybercriminals are making calls in the name of police and threatening to do drugs and bank transactions with terrorists and extort crores of rupees. (Maxim News)
