Same Last Year Orders To Continue On The Ganesh Immersion

Hyderabad, Sept 8 (Maxim News) : In view of last year, the Telangana High Court issued orders not to immerse idols of Vinayaka made of Plaster of Paris (POP) in Hussain Sagar.  The High Court has made it clear that the same order will continue during this year’s Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations as well.  The bench said that the interim order passed last year to immerse the idols of POP in temporary ponds was still in force.

The High Court today took up a hearing on a petition filed by manufacturers to lift the ban on idols made of POP.  In the petition, the Central Pollution Control Board (PCB) regulations were sought to be struct down.  On the other hand, lawyer Venumadhav brought to the notice of the Court that Vinjayaka idols made of POP were immersed in Hussain Sagar in violation of the orders issued by the Court last year.  The bench said that appropriate action will be taken if a contempt of court petition is filed with evidence.

The hearing on the petition to lift the ban on the manufacture of POP idols has been adjourned to September 25.  (Maxim News)
