SC to hear EVM tampering plea on Friday
The Supreme Court today said it would hear on Friday the petition filed by lawyer Manohar Lal Sharma in connection with the issue of tampering of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Mr Sharma today mentioned the matter before a three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and Justices D Y Chandrachud and Sanjay Kishan Kaul, that since 1982 the EVMs were not reliable and ballot papers are cent percent reliable.
He said EVMs could be tampered with whereas ballot papers could not be. Due to the tampering of EVMs, various candidates and political parties allegedly won many elections and it should be stopped thereby. Sharma sought a direction to pass appropriate orders in this issue.
