- South Central Railway scrap sales cross target through e auction
- SCR scrap sales revenue rises above last year with 1,32,583 tonnes sold
Hyderabad: SCR scrap sales reached a record level in the financial year 2025-26. South Central Railway earned Rs 602.06 crore from scrap sales, officials said on Wednesday. The earnings crossed the Rs 510 crore target set by the Railway Board.
Officials said the railway zone achieved this revenue through the sale of scrap materials using the e auction system. The process helped ensure transparency in the sale of unused railway materials. Meanwhile, the initiative also supported the Swachh Bharat Mission by keeping railway premises clean.
SCR Scrap Sales Cross Target Through E Auction
According to railway officials, South Central Railway sold 1,32,583 metric tonnes of scrap during the financial year. The materials were disposed of through e auction. Officials said the system helped improve efficiency while also maintaining transparency in the sales process.
The revenue recorded this year also showed a sharp increase compared to the previous year. In the last financial year, SCR earned Rs 501.72 crore from scrap sales. However, the latest earnings exceeded that figure by more than Rs 100 crore.
Therefore, the revenue recorded in 2025-26 marks the highest scrap income in the history of South Central Railway. The performance also helped the railway zone surpass the target set by the Railway Board.
Meanwhile, railway officials noted that regular scrap disposal helps improve operational efficiency. It also helps keep railway premises clean and organized. Because of this, the scrap sale programme plays an important role in railway maintenance.
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava appreciated the efforts of the staff and officials for achieving the record revenue. Officials said the work of the teams involved in identifying and disposing of scrap materials contributed to the successful outcome.
The use of e auction also helped streamline the process and allowed wider participation in the bidding process. As a result, the railway zone could generate higher returns from the scrap materials.
Overall, SCR’s scrap disposal initiative during the financial year 2025-26 resulted in record earnings. The achievement also highlights the role of systematic scrap management and transparent e auction practices in boosting railway revenue.
