Hyderabad, May 6: Security Advisor appointment in Telangana has come under legal challenge after a petition questioned the selection of former DGP B Shivdhar Reddy.
Petitioner T Dhanpal Rao approached the High Court seeking a stay on Government Order No 559. He argued that the appointment violated established legal procedures. Moreover, he filed an additional application linked to an earlier petition on the interim DGP appointment.
According to the petition, authorities did not follow Supreme Court guidelines during the selection process. The petitioner claimed that officials failed to obtain a list of eligible candidates from the Union Public Service Commission.
Security Advisor appointment faces legal scrutiny
The plea further stated that the appointment occurred while the earlier petition remained pending before the court. Therefore, the petitioner raised objections over the timing and process followed by the government.
In addition, the petition questioned granting the post with a rank equivalent to Chief Secretary. The petitioner argued that such elevation lacked proper legal backing.
Meanwhile, the High Court is expected to examine the matter in detail. Officials have not yet issued a response on the allegations raised in the petition.
The case highlights ongoing concerns over adherence to due process in senior level appointments. Further developments will depend on the court’s review of the petition and related applications.
