Surprise Drug Tests | Hyderabad, May 6 (Maxim News): Task Force and Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing conducted surprise medical drug tests on rowdy sheeters and known drug consumers today.
Police tested 204 persons across three government hospitals. As a result, 87 individuals tested positive for drugs.
HNEW Drive Hits Multiple Hospitals
Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar instructed the special drive on May 6, 2026. Task Force HNEW coordinated with local police staff. They targeted rowdy sheeters, trouble mongers and NDPS case history persons. The goal was to warn about legal consequences of drug use.
Teams took suspects to Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, and Government Hospital for Mental Care in Erragadda. Doctors conducted the tests there. At Gandhi Hospital, 41 persons faced tests. Twelve tested positive. Twenty nine tested negative.
However, Osmania General Hospital saw heavier positives. Out of 90 tested, 52 came back positive. Only 38 tested negative.
Counselling Follows Positive Results

Erragadda mental health hospital tested 73 persons. Twenty three showed positive results. Fifty tested negative. Overall, 87 out of 204 tested positive for drugs. Psychiatrist doctors counselled all positive cases.
They explained harmful effects of drug abuse. Doctors also stressed rehabilitation needs.
DCP Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad supervised the drive. Addl DCP Andhe Srinivas oversaw Charminar Zone operations. Police now book legal cases against positive individuals.
However, they also focus on recovery support. Task Force and HNEW promise strict action against drug activities. Meanwhile, they help affected persons through counselling programs.
Police urge citizens to avoid drugs completely. They seek community support for healthy safe neighborhoods.
