Hyderabad, Sept. 22: Telangana Minister Seethakka has directed officials to begin disbursing new pensions in October, preferably before Dussehra.
She asked officials to speed up field verification of pension applications. She also ordered additional staff to be deployed where necessary.
The minister issued the directions to SERP CEO Divya Devarajan on Tuesday.
Seethakka Pushes New Pension Verification
Seethakka directed officials to ensure that all eligible applicants receive pensions. She specifically called for support for single women and widows.
She asked officials to complete verification quickly so the pension distribution process can begin in October.
The minister said necessary arrangements should be made to complete the process before the Dussehra festival.
Telangana’s official pension dashboard reported more than 43 lakh social security pension beneficiaries as of September 21. The government has also said another 2.25 lakh beneficiaries are being prepared for pension support.
Dussehra, or Vijaya Dasami, falls on October 20 in Telangana this year.
