Hyderabad, Sept. 22: Heavy rains are likely across Telangana under the influence of a depression in the Bay of Bengal, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre said.
The weather office forecast very heavy rain in eight districts and heavy rain in 20 districts.
Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu are among the districts likely to receive heavy rainfall.
Heavy Rains in Telangana Prompt Orange and Yellow Alerts
An orange alert has been issued for Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Suryapet, Mahabubabad and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts.
The weather office warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in these areas.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for districts in the Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Medak and Nalgonda regions.
Officials advised residents to remain alert as heavy rainfall could affect several areas.
Moderate to heavy rain is also likely in parts of the Hyderabad metropolitan area.
Winds may reach speeds of 30 to 40 kmph during the weather system.
Authorities advised people to avoid standing near electric poles or under trees during heavy rain.
They also urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel unless there is an emergency.
Meanwhile, GHMC officials have taken precautionary measures in view of the heavy rains.
