Shabbir Ali Secures Assurance From Dy CM Bhatti, Minister Laxman Kumar On Fast-Tracking Minority Welfare Schemes
Hyderabad, June 25: A crucial review meeting on the implementation of minority welfare schemes in Telangana was held on Wednesday involving Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minorities Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, and Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir. The meeting, attended by heads of key minority institutions, focused on assessing ongoing initiatives and expediting pending schemes under the Minorities Welfare Department.
Speaking to the media after the discussions, Shabbir Ali said the Deputy CM and Minister Laxman Kumar assured that all efforts would be made to fast-track implementation and ensure the timely release of funds. He said the Congress Government had allocated Rs 3,591 crore to the Minorities Welfare Department in the 2025–26 Budget, including a record ₹840 crore for self-employment schemes.
Earlier in the day, Shabbir Ali held a detailed meeting with Minister Laxman Kumar at the latter’s chambers, joined by the Chairpersons of several minority bodies including Obedullah Kotwal (Minorities Finance Corporation), Tahir Bin Hamdan (Urdu Academy), Syed Azmatullah Hussaini (Waqf Board), Faheem Qureshi (TMREIS), Khusro Pasha Biyabani (Haj Committee), and Prof. Riyaz (Libraries), along with Minorities Welfare Secretary B. Shafiullah and senior officials.
The discussions covered a wide range of issues, including the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam programme, functioning of TMREIS schools, disbursement of scholarships, Urdu language promotion, Hajj arrangements, and honorariums for Imams and Muezzins. Shabbir Ali and Laxman Kumar conducted a department-wise review and gave necessary instructions to the concerned officials to speed up implementation.
Later, the delegation led by Shabbir Ali and Minister Laxman Kumar met Deputy CM and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to raise concerns over fund releases. Bhatti reportedly assured that budgetary allocations for minority welfare schemes would be released without delay to avoid disruptions in execution.
Shabbir Ali said that in addition to the Rs 840 crore earmarked for self-employment support under Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, the government was also distributing sewing machines and offering other livelihood tools to help minority families become self-reliant. He stated that the Congress Government aimed to make welfare schemes more effective through coordinated efforts and timely funding. (Maxim News)
