Shame on BJP to create panic on paddy stocks: Niranjan

Hyderabad, Nov.16 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today lashed out at the BJP leaders for creating panic among the farmers on paddy procurement. The BJP in the state has no eligibility to demand the state government to procure paddy stocks, he said.

Addressing a press conference at the TRS Legislature party office here the minister criticised the BJP leaders should be shameful of conducting protests in the state to procure by the government. He shown some video-grabs on his smart phone to the scribes that the local farmers in Suryapet and Nalgonda are protesting the BJP leaders for creating panic.

The BJP leaders are creating new problems of law and order in the name giving support to the farmers, he charged. It is not correct for them to violate norms and instigating violence for political reasons, the minister objected. The BJP leaders if have guts and affection on state farmers should press the Centre to procure our paddy stocks, he said.

It is shameful that the BJP president and MP has been stoking violence at Nalgonda and Suryapet districts with his henchmen, the minister said.

Instead of asking the Centre to procure Yasangi paddy from Telangana state, the BJP leaders like Bandi Sanjay and other gundas are resorting to create panic. Some of the farmers and TRS activists were injured by the BJP leaders attack through stone pelting at Suryapet and other locations.

The BJP leaders are resorting to violence by stone pelting and sticks at the IKP centers in the state. The IKP centers are purchasing the paddy stocks and the Centre has to get the stocks of Yasangi he demanded. The minister further asked the BJP leadership and the Centre to clarify on the paddy row. The Centre has to address the issue and ask the state unit to stop violence in the name of paddy procurement, he demanded.

The Centre failed to shoulder constitutional responsibility to get our paddy stocks on the lines of Punjab, the minister said. He accused the Modi Government of deliberate failing to address the farmers’ issues by not resolving the protests at national level.

TRS whip and spokesman Jeevan Reddy also took potshots at the BJP president in the state on panic situation in Suryapet and Nalgonda districts. The BJP leader brought some gundas from Hyderabad to attack the farmers and the TRS activists in the districts to cause only panic, he fumed. The BJP should desist from such violent scenes and not create problems, he demanded. The TRS legislator asked the BJP to mount pressure on the Centre to lift paddy stocks from the state.
