Hyderabad, Jan. 7 (Maxim News): SHE Teams Hyderabad continued strong enforcement and preventive action to protect women and girls across the city during December.

Under the supervision of Dr. Lavanya NJP, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Women Safety Wing, the teams acted on complaints received through WhatsApp, direct petitions, and social media platforms.

The initiative focused on ensuring safety, dignity, and quick legal response.

During December, SHE Teams Hyderabad received a total of 98 petitions. Out of these, 29 petitions were referred to concerned police stations. Police registered 14 cases as FIRs, while 15 cases remained pending for further legal action.

Meanwhile, through field surveillance, decoy operations, and technical monitoring, teams caught 13 offenders red handed. Among them, 11 were majors and two were minors.

Officials warned seven offenders and let them off after counselling in the presence of family members. Authorities booked nine cases as petty cases due to serious misconduct.

Legal action led to several convictions. Courts awarded three convictions with seven days jail and fine, one conviction with four days jail and fine, one conviction with two days jail, and three convictions with only fine.

These outcomes, officials said, sent a clear message against harassment.

Several notable cases highlighted the work of SHE Teams Hyderabad. In one case, an engineering student complained that a Rapido rider saved her number and harassed her through repeated calls and abusive messages.

SHE Teams apprehended the accused and registered a petty case under Section 292 BNS and Section 70(c) of the CP Act. The court convicted the accused and sentenced him to seven days simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 250.

In another case, a degree student reported that her neighbour followed and harassed her and attempted to pull her onto his bike. The accused received seven days simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 500.

Meanwhile, another complainant stated that she met an individual through Instagram who later blackmailed her using private photos and videos.

SHE Teams acted quickly, booked a petty case, and the court sentenced the accused to seven days simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 500.

In a separate incident, an accused who harassed a woman through abusive social media messages received four days simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 250.

Along with enforcement, SHE Teams Hyderabad focused on awareness. During the month, teams conducted 188 awareness programmes, 1,045 observation drives, and 234 AV vehicle awareness programmes across Hyderabad.

Officials also issued alerts advising citizens to beware of fake profiles, avoid oversharing online, secure accounts, and report harassment without fear.
