Shivadhar Reddy Appointed As New DGP Of Telangana

Hyderabad, Sept 27 (Maxim News): The state government has appointed IPS Shivadhar Reddy as the Telangana Police Chief . The Chief Minister handed over the appointment letter to him on Friday. He is a 1994 batch IPS officer.

In 2016, he was arrested for being a gangster. In the encounter, Shivadhar Reddy played a key role. He was the one who planned the encounter operation. Shivadhar Reddy has won many awards for his services to the police department.

Born and raised in Hyderabad, Shivadhar Reddy hails from Thulekalan ( Peddathundla ) village in Ibrahimpatnam mandal of Rangareddy district . He studied in Hyderabad from primary school to higher education. He completed his LLB from Osmania University and practiced as an advocate for some time. Later, Shivdhar Reddy cleared the Civil Services and joined the Indian Police Service in 1994.

He worked as an ASP in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Narsipatnam, and Chintapalli in the united state of Andhra Pradesh. He also served as the Greyhounds Squadron Commander and as the SP of Bellampalle, Adilabad, Nalgonda, Srikakulam, Nellore, and Guntur districts. Shivdhar Reddy played a key role in the suppression of Maoists as DIG SIB . He served as the first Intelligence Chief of Telangana State between 2014-2016 .

Shivdhar Reddy also served in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo as part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force . He solved many sensational cases while serving as SP of Nalgonda, Srikakulam, Nellore and Guntur.

After the 2007 Mecca Masjid bomb blasts and police firing in which 14 people were killed, he was appointed as DCP of Hyderabad South Zone.Shivdhar Reddy was appointed by the government. During the most tense situation, he worked day and night, instilling courage in people from all walks of life and effectively maintaining peace and security.

When he served as the Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner, he organized the Arrive Alive campaign for road safety . He was appointed as the Additional Director and Director of ACB in the united Andhra Pradesh . He took charge as the IG and Additional DG in the Personnel Wing . After the Congress government came to power in 2023, Shivdhar Reddy was again appointed as the Intelligence Chief .

He was promoted to DGP in August 2024. Shivdhar Reddy received many awards including the Gallantry Medal, Police Medal, President’s Medal, and United Nations Medal (Maxim News)
