Shock To The Indian Wrestlers: WFI License Canceled

Hyderabad, Aug 24 (Maxim News): The Indian Wrestling Federation‘s license has been canceled.  The International Wrestling Federation has announced the suspension of the Indian Wrestling Federation’s license. The notification issued that these orders will come into effect immediately.

WFI failed to conduct the Indian Wrestling Federation elections.  The International Wrestling Federation announced that they are revoking the license for that reason.  With this decision, Indian wrestlers will not be able to participate in the upcoming World Championship.  The World Championship tournament will be held from September 16.  However, as there is no opportunity to compete in the World Championship, Indian wrestlers will have to compete as ‘neutral athletes.’

The Indian Wrestling Federation has been embroiled in controversy over allegations of sexual harassment by female wrestlers against former president Brij Bhushan Charan Singh.  But the wrestlers were worried that Charan Singh should be removed from the post.  As a result, the International Wrestling Federation panel disbanded the Indian Olympic Association (Maxim News)
