Rajanna Sircilla, June 9: A Sircilla court on Tuesday sentenced Kotagiri Srinivas Goud to 20 years in prison and fined him Rs. 5,000 after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in 2020.
Police said the accused lured the child from Gambhiraopet mandal in Rajanna Sircilla district on February 23, 2020, and assaulted her. The victim told her mother, who filed a complaint with Gambhiraopet police. Investigators recorded the victim’s statement, collected medical reports, and obtained witness testimony. Based on this evidence, authorities filed a charge sheet.
The case was tried in the Sircilla POCSO Special Court. Judge Radhika Jaiswal examined oral and documentary evidence and found the prosecution’s case proven. The court sentenced 55-year-old Kotagiri Srinivas Goud to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a Rs. 5,000 fine. Public Prosecutor Rajinikanth presented the prosecution’s arguments at trial.
District Superintendent of Police Mahesh B. Gite said the law will be strict with offenders in sexual crimes against children and urged victims’ families to report such incidents without fear.
